WATER ACTIVITIES

 

 

The Camping Park Entre Ambos-os-Rios is flanked by rivers Lima, Froufe and Tamente, within the limits of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, on the banks of Tamente reservoir, in the parish of Entre Ambos-os-Rios, municipality of Ponte da Barca.

 

LAGOONS

There are four lagoons in the vicinity of our Camping Park. The nearest lagoon is designated as L1, and is located only 800 meters from the park. It’s an easily accessible quiet place and has an area suitable for children and even babies. A true paradise. The second nearest lagoon is located about 2 kilometers from the park. It has a unique natural beauty. The third nearest lagoon is located about 6 kilometers from the park. The lagoon is fabulous and has a stunning waterfall. Finally, the forth lagoon is located about 7 kilometers from the park. We are talking about the famous Poço Negro, a kind of natural pool fed by a 10-meter waterfall. Amazing!

L1 CHÃO D’ALÉM LAGOON

Distance from the park: 0.8km

Routes: To arrive at this lagoon, turn left at the intersection with the national road and then turn right 70 meters after the bridge.

 

Brief description: A big lagoon, a great place for families.

L2 POÇO DE FROUFE LAGOON

Distance from the park: 2.1km

Routes: To arrive at this lagoon, turn left at the intersection with the national road, cross the bridge, remain on the road and then turn right at the first intersection with the national road. Keep going until you get to a small bridge.

 

Description: A vary big lagoon, perfect for families with children.

L3 POÇO DA CARCERELHA

Distance from the park: 6.4km
Routes: To arrive at this lagoon, go forward at the intersection with the national road, pass through the village and remain on the main road.

 

Coordinates: 41º48′ 44.44″N, 8º15’43.57″O

 

Brief description: Big lagoon, a good place to spend the afternoon with the family.

L4  POÇO NEGRO

Distance from the park: 6.8km
Routes: To arrive at this lagoon, go forward at the intersection with the national road, pass through the village and remain on the main road. Be careful as the road drops to the lagoon.

 

Coordinates: 41º 48º 41.63″N, 8º 15′ 32.59″O

 

Description: A big lagoon with a 10-meter waterfall suitable for the most adventurous spirits.

KAYAK

Kayak rental service is available for 15 euros per person.

2 schedules available – 3-hour rental session (approx.):

From 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m.

From 03:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m.

CANOING AND SUP

An unforgettable experience, with breathtaking landscapes, for adults and children and always accompanied by a professional guide. An experience that you will never forget!

CANYONING

Canyoning is a nature and adventure experience that allows you to discover the most impressive and hidden wonders of Peneda-Gerês National Park. It is a very dynamic activity to experience with your partner or your friends. Your safety is guaranteed by professional guides, specialized in this particular activity and with many years of experience.

– Minimum of 2 people
– Liability and personal accident insurance
– Qualified instructor
– Activity time: 4 h (approx.)

 

Price: 70€ per person (boots rental included)

FISHING

You can get information on the Municipal Regulation of the Recreational Fishing Area of the Touvedo Dam and get the daily license to fish in this area (national or regional license required).

Do you know that Peneda-Geres National Parc is making part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of the MAB UNESCO Programme which consists of a dynamic and interactive network of sites of excellence all around world. This Network includes 701 biosphere reserves in 124 countries including 21 transboundary sites (dates of November 2019).

Geres - (Xures) Transboundary Biosphere Reserve is located on the extreme west of the Iberian Peninsula. The hilly relief contains two major peaks: Nevosa, which climbs up 1,556 metres, and Fontefría, which reaches 1,559 metres. Successive mountain ranges include the Sierra del Xurés, Sierra do Quinxo and Santa Eufemia, which are encircled by tributaries of the River Lima (Limia). Other major rivers that traverse the biosphere reserve include the Vez, Homen and Cávado. The reserve’s natural landscape is divided into plains and inland valleys, the wide valley of the Lima River and steep slopes.

This Spain-Portugal Biosphere Reserve has a rich diversity in flora with 807 native and non-native taxa including a large number of Lusitanian and Iberian endemics.
